Winter Hockey Season

The Grind Kitchen and Bar is always busy during the Winter Hockey Season at the National Hockey Stadium. Wellington Hockey boasts a wide variety of Competitions for all different age brackets and skill levels. We love being part of the social aspect of the sport! Come visit us upstairs in the NHS Pavilion where you can expect quality food and drink on offer!

Saturday mornings is all go, go, go at the National Hockey Stadium with the Junior Hockey Competition taking place where play, participation and fun is had by all!

We are open on Friday nights for the Secondary Schools P1 & P2 Boys and Girls Competition. Come and watch the up and coming talent in the Wellington Region!

The Open Grade Competition is the foremost premier hockey competition of the Wellington region played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons/evenings.

Summer Hockey Season

During the Summer Hockey Season (Twilight Hockey), The Grind Kitchen and Bar will still be open for your usual cold beverage after your tough match being played in the hot summer sun! Bring along your team mates, supporters, friends and family. Come and enjoy our hospitality along with our great selection of food and drinks.

Masters Hockey

Thursday Nights

Thursday nights the local Masters Hockey Competition is played during the summer. Come join us upstairs in the pavilion afterwards and socialise with your teammates along with a refreshing cold beverage in hand!

Special Events for 2023

During the hockey season, Wellington Hockey may host special events such as National/Regional Hockey Tournaments, Schools Tournaments and International Hockey Matches. Stay tuned on our Facebook Page or check back here regularly to see if any special events are scheduled in Wellington. The Grind Kitchen and Bar will endeavour to be open during these special occasions.

2023 FIH Pro League 
Season 4

18th - 26th February 2023

Top flight international hockey returns to NZ for the 2023 FIH Pro League! The National Hockey Stadium in Wellington will play host to the Vantage Black Sticks Women, as well as China and the USA from 18th - 26th February 2023. Welcome back, international hockey. We have missed you!

Indians Queens Birthday Tournament 2023

3rd - 5th June 2023

The annual Queen’s Birthday Tournament, commonly referred to as ‘QBT’ is NZISA’s pinnacle hockey event.

 

This tournament sees a Women’s competition run alongside two Men’s competitions, known as A and B Section. It offers a great opportunity for the wider NZISA community to get together and get behind their local regions and teams.

Rankin Cup & India Shield Tournament

28th Aug - 2nd Sept

The Rankin Cup and India Shield is the top tier secondary school boy hockey tournament in New Zealand which is competed for by numerous secondary schools across the country.

 

The Grind Kitchen and Bar is excited that Wellington Hockey will be hosting this awesome tournament in 2023!
